The Summer Edge Program at Rutgers University-Newark allows students to earn college credits while still in high school.

Eligibility
Grade
You must be a freshman, sophmore, or junior.
GPA
You must have a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average.
Transcript
A copy of your unofficial transcript is required.
Recommendation
A letter of recommendation from your high school counseor is required.



Getting Started
Complete the Online Application
Before heading to the application portal, ensure you are ready to upload your unofficial high school transcript and letter of recommendation. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

If you are a returning high school student:

Log in to the application portal.

Locate the "2026 Summer Edge Program Application" under Available Applications.

Click Apply.

Fill in your information and click Continue.

Review the application, Terms & Conditions, electronically sign the application, and click Submit.
If you are a new applicant:

Go to the application portal.

Click Get Started.

Complete and submit the Sign-Up form.

Complete steps 1-5 above.
Summer Edge is held during Summer Session II, from July 6 through August 12, at Rutgers University-Newark.
When does summer edge take place?
Is there a Summer Edge application fee, and what are the associated costs?
No, there is no fee to submit a Summer Edge application. However, students are responsible for paying Rutgers summer undergraduate tuition and fees. For detailed information, please visit the tuition and fees page for the cost breakdown.
Summer Edge students are not permitted to register in closed or restricted courses, or those that require special permission to enroll. For more information or to request permission to register, contact the school or academic department offering the course.
